Conveyor Separators

Get Permanent Magnetic Protection for Your Products and Equipment
Bunting Magnetic Pulleys, Suspended Plates, and Cross-Belt Separators provide dependable and economical permanent magnetic protection against tramp iron damage in a wide range of conveyor applications. They are used in the food, chemical, plastics, oil, textile, recycling, and other industries to remove ferrous fines and tramp iron from many types of dry particulate material.
Increase Product Purity and Productivity
Designed primarily for use on open conveyors, Bunting Conveyor Separators can substantially reduce interrupted production runs, maintenance, and costly wear and tear on production machinery.
Like our entire line of separation equipment, Conveyor Separators are engineered for easy installation, low maintenance, and long service. They are designed to:
• REDUCE CONTAMINATION
• PREVENT EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
• RECLAIM FERROUS MATERIAL
• REDUCE TRAMP METAL HAZZARDS
Get Self-Cleaning Convenience
Magnetic Separation Pulleys and Cross-Belt Separators offer continuous separation and self-cleaning action for high-capacity systems. They provide product purification along with reduced downtime and maintenance.
Magnetic Head Pulleys Convert Your Belt Conveyors
Bunting Magnetic Head Pulleys feature radial magnetic field that eliminates "dead spots" and provides complete magnetic protection over the entire working surface of the pulley.
Continuous Cleaning
Installed in conveyor lines, Bunting Magnetic Head Pulleys provide continuous self-cleaning magnetic protection from ferrous contamination.
Constant Power
The high-density Ceramic permanent magnets are always "on." They require no electrical hookups, no maintenance and hold their magnetic strength indefinitely. On 6" and 8" diameter pulleys, a stainless steel shaft is required. On all other sizes, the hollow bore design allows use of an existing mild steel shaft for economy. Optional crowned face and a variety of lagging materials are available to fit specific applications. New replacement shafts can be supplied per customer specifications. Bunting Magnetic Head Pulleys can be used as individual units or in combination with other Bunting products. Belt Conveyors achieve the ultimate in magnetic protection when the Bunting Heavy-Duty Suspended Plate Magnet and Magnetic Head Pulley are used together.
How to Select Magnetic Pulleys
Pulleys typically fit into an existing conveyor system. So several dimensions may already be fixed. Use the belt width column to select a pulley with the correct width for your installation. You may also have to match pulley and shaft diameters to your equipment.
Suspended Plate Magnets Mount Above Conveyors
Bunting Heavy-Duty Suspended Plate Magnets provide effective protection from ferrous tramp metal hazards found in grain, feedstuffs, and other particulates. Belt conveyors achieve the ultimate in magnetic separation when the Bunting Heavy-Duty Suspended Plate Magnet and Magnetic Head Pulley are used together. One captures contaminants near the surface of the product stream. The other removes tramp iron located closer to the belt surface.
Each of these heavy-duty magnets is supplied with eyebolts to aid in handling or overhead suspension. A complete support frame to fit your existing equipment is optional. The frame's bolt-together design requires no field welding or cutting. All mounting hardware is included.
Size and Cleaning Options
Five standard sizes and one magnetic strength are offered to fit your applications. A optional stainless steel slide face designed to simplify cleaning can be installed to slide either parallel or perpendicular to the belt flow.
How to Select Suspended Plate Magnets
The width of your conveyor belt determines the model you need. Our engineers have built these magnets around that key dimension. Be sure to indicate whether or not you want the support frame or slide when ordering.
Cross-Belt Separators Offer Full-Time Separation
Bunting Cross-Belt Separators provide continuous removal of ferrous contaminants from conveyed material. The unit's powerful high-density permanent Ceramic plate magnet reaches deep into the product flow and captures elusive scrap even from fast moving belts. The cross-belt design creates a large coverage area whether the unit is suspended parallel to, or at right angles, to the conveyor belt. The unit can be mounted using the four eyebolts anchored at the top of its frame.
Continuous Cleaning Design
Tramp iron falls form the unit's belt as the cleated belt moves the contaminants beyond the magnet's face and out of the magnetic field. You get continuous self-cleaning protection. When the Cross-Belt Separator is mounted perpendicular to the conveyor and to the direction of the moving material, ferrous contaminants are discharged at the side of the conveyor line. With the Cross-Belt Separator mounted parallel to the product flow and just above the conveyor and can be diverted to collection bins. The separator's durable cleated belt travels at a constant 275 feet per minute so that even heavy concentrations of contaminants can be captured and quickly cleared away.
How to select Cross-Belt Separators
The width of your conveyor will determine the correct size for your Cross-Belt Separator. Mounted at right angles to your conveyor, the Cross-Belt Magnet should be long enough to completely cover the belt and allow adequate space for a discharge/collection area at the side of the conveyor.
