Cartridge Style Magnetic Liquid Traps
Cartridge-Style Liquid Traps are ideal for use with nonfibrous fluids - where there are no solids larger than .5"diameter and no risk of clogging. Trap design forces liquids through a tightly spaced grid of magnetic cartridges to ensure close contact between the product and the magnetic field. Ferrous tramp is magnetically extracted from the liquid flow by powerful Rare Earth magnets and held on the cartridge surfaces. For cleaning, you simply remove the cartridge - lid assembly from the trap housing and wipe off the collected metal particles. The T-shaped body of the trap provides a sump in which heavy nonferrous contaminants such as small stones and 300-series stainless steel fragments can collect.
Self-Cleaning Cartridge-Style Magnetic Liquid Traps
Self-Cleaning Cartridge-Style Traps offer the added benefit of fast, easy cleaning. Wherever large amounts of tramp are anticipated or when shutdown time must be kept to a minimum, the MLT-CSC is recommended. It can be cleaned and returned to service quickly. To clean the trap, you remove the cartridge assembly from the housing and then simply unlatch and slide the magnetic cartridges out of the stainless steel cleaning tubes that surround them. The tramp metal falls away. Because of the air gap created by the cleaning tubes, the MLT-CSC has lower surface holding force than the MLT-C.
Single Plate Magnet Style Magnetic Liquid Traps
Single Plate Magnet Style Liquid Traps effectively remove ferrous particles from viscous and fibrous liquids containing large suspended solids. The MLT-SP is designed to "throw" contaminants against a magnetic plate and into a deep magnetic field where they are captured and held. This unit's 3-pole magnetic field created intense holding forces at either side of the deflector, where ferrous contaminants can be trapped and protected from the wiping action of the liquid flow. The deflector creates a 180-degree changed in the direction of flow to agitate the product and expose contaminants that would otherwise be blocked by suspended solids. A 7/8" gap between the deflector and the magnet face allows nonferrous solids to pass unobstructed. Cleaning requires removing the plate magnet from the housing and wiping the ferrous tramp to the edge of the plate, where it can easily be brushed away. Single Plate Traps do not have sufficient flow area for a 4" line. When this size is required, select a Dual Plate Trap.
Dual Plate Magnet Style Magnetic Liquid Traps
Dual Plate Magnet Style Traps offer the dual advantages of high flow capacities and flow characteristics. The MLT-DP's gently sloped diverter creates a smooth flow pattern that protects fragile product from damage. At the same time, by dividing the product flow over two plate magnets, Dual Plate Traps can effectively handle double the flow rate of Single Plate model. Alternatively, the MLT-DP allows you to increase magnetic protection by slowing the flow rate and doubling the time contaminants are exposed to the magnetic field.
